I have had Chris from John Barnes Locksmiths attend and provide me a quote to change locks at my house. Quote was very reasonable and they were able to get the job done quickly! They are very polite, professional and friendly, would definitely reccomend them to any one who needs a lock smith.

I had John Barnes & Co, come out to complete a series of jobs at my parents house. The locksmith who came out was very professional, as he explained every detail of what he was doing to my father, and made sure each finish was 100%. The locksmith even took his shoes off inside the house, to my mothers delight, which a lot of tradies forget to do. Very polite on the phone and warm and friendly in their service. Highly recommend these guys

John Barnes is a rip off! Quoted me a car key replacement of $260 on the phone and charged $400 on the day saying because weekend rates are different without informing me whatsoever first!! He did work on the car on a Sunday and of course if he did inform me why wouldn't I wait til the next day to save $140?! No one is that stupid! Not recommended. Was very unprofessional!!

Yesterday 5-6-2013 I took my car key to have the battery replaced. I took it to J Barnes because they stated on the internet this is one of the services they perform as I hadn't the tool to open the key and felt that I could burr the screw. $38.50 later at J Barnes, the screw was burred, drilled out and replaced along with the battery. That night the key did not work. So I opened up the key and found that a dead battery had been inserted into the key.

Today 6-6-2013, took it back to J Barnes opened it up in front of the lunch time staff member who assured me that they only insert new batteries, I hooked it up to my battery tester - demonstrated it was dead. Whereupon the Staff Member thought that the issue could be my battery tester. A new battery was then inserted and the battery tester indicated that it was good. Whereupon the staff member left me to reassemble the key and disappeared behind the screen.

Lessons to be learnt by J Barnes & Co.
1. Test all batteries prior to inserting into car keys
2. Train staff members in complaint management and just general manners
