8 years on and my love affair is still going strong. Longrain remains the only restaurant in Melbourne that I am consistently happy with.
The meals are full of flavour, the portions are large and the service is great.

Longrain seems to have a big reputation, but I cant help but feel that this is just an average restaurant. Its located on the nice top end of Little Burke and looks cosy and nice from the outside, and it seems that many people do enjoy dining here but I have difficulty understanding why. The food was mostly average and very expensive for what you get. The last time when we were here it was pretty busy and it was difficult to get the attention of the staff too which didnt help. Overall it was still an ok experience though and not worth ruling out based purely on what we feel here.

Longrain has a reputation for quality that they ably live up to with a range of spicy and delicious Thai dishes. The upmarket nature of the place is also reflected in the price - this isn't a cheap and cheerful restaurant, but the food, service, and atmosphere make it worth the price.
The setup in the restaurant is long communal tables, which can be hard to get on to on busy nights. You can however enjoy a drink at the bar while you wait for a spot to free up, so it's not the end of the world!
