Stalactites is a Lonsdale Street institution! Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week this is your go-to source for souvlaki.
Most Melbournians know it as the place to go after a big night out, but you can be sure its busy at pretty much all other times as well. Its a medium sized place, nothing fancy, and its probably not even the best place in Melbourne to get souvlaki. But nonetheless you cant call yourself a Melbournian if you havent been here at least once. At the minute you may have to wait a little while first to give it a try theyre currently undergoing renovations.

This place offers greatGreekfood. You can you go there for lunch or dinner. Its also very popular in the wee hours as people grab a souvlaki on the way home. The venue is really large so can easily handle big groups. There is a take-away and restaurant section.

A Melbourne icon for their souvlakis. Has been here at least 30 years. Often a big queue waiting. Very filling and good value for money. Not very comfortable as a place to eat and upstairs can be very cold in winter.

The saviour (or downfall, depending on your view) of many late night revellers in Melbourne's CBD, Stalactites has been serving up around the clock souvlakis for years.

They have both dine in and take away on offer, just make sure you don't order from the take away counter if you want to sit down - they don't like that! The quality is OK, but at 3am is anyone really a connoisseur?
