My car was significantly damaged underneath during flash flooding yesterday at Grange. The undercover carriage was torn off due to driving thru a deep body of water on flooded road. There was an intense burning smell and car engine cut out. Called roadside assistance and after inspection was advised car was not to be started or driven so it was towed home. The following day my insurance arranged towing to auto masters for assessment, quoting and repairs. Upon being pulled up onto tow truck we saw the extent of the damage , under carriage cover gone, all torn lining underneath, burnt black bits on exhaust underneath and very loud squealing noise and grinding noise when pushing car closer to tow truck (engine not running and hand brake off). Car went to auto masters to quote on repairs and inspect for water damage to brakes , driveline etc. insurance claims dept called them to organise assessor and was told that there was nothing wrong with the car and that it could be driven and no repairs necessary. Insurance claims called me requesting all the photos of the damage that I’d taken and the roadside report and said they were not at all happy with auto masters response and that they were arranging another tow to get it out of there and off to another repairer. I called auto masters and was told the same thing, nothing wrong with the car and the stuff hanging down underneath was wear and tear! I asked about the black burnt stuff , the burning smell and the screeching noise and he hung up on me! Never been so disgusted with service such as this in my life and I know full well they did not check engine or anything else for water damage. I would not recommend anybody ever take their car to these people - the insurance claims department (RAA) were also so horrified by these people that they said they’d not be recommending them as a repairer and said they were getting car out of there asap. The guy was the manager (Rob) and said the head mechanic had checked the car - absolute garbage and once I have the assessment carried out by assessor I will be forwarding it to them and pointing out their utter incompetence !! APART from the fact that the car is making horrendous grinding and screeching noises when moved, as well as the fact that the brakes, rods, and everything else needed to be investigated for water intake damage, which wasn’t done, the very obvious torn bumper and bits of stuff hanging out underneath, and the undercarriage cover that was completely torn off and put in my car for them to see, was explained as wear and tear even though the car had been driven through a flooded road with water reaching the top of the wheels (which has been all over the news with hundreds of cars damaged requiring repairs) I have attached photos of the bare minimum damage to my car that is obvious without even beginning to investigate mechanicals, that they call general wear and tear, stating no repair necessary, along with the photos from the news to show the level of flooding my Mazda 3 was driving through!!…. No need for investigation … really??
INCOMPETENCE AT ITS BEST, COMPLETE WITH RUDE MANAGEMENT, AND THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER
