Woodlands Golf Club

Woodlands is a medium length, challenging private course on land that is flat.Woodlands doesnt have the length of nearby rivals such as Victoria or Royal Melbourne but has great (fast) greens and bunkering and challenging approaches to mostly very elevated greens. I must admit that the constant drone of aircraft doing practice circuits of Moorabbin airport is a real drag at this course. They are damned noisy and low and spoil the atmosphere which is very natural - the course being a natural fauna and flora reserve. After a lot of rain it stays dry because it is part of the Sandbelt area of Melbourne (includes icons such as Royal Melbourne, Victoria, Huntingdale and Metropolitan) so drains really well. If you are considering this course you might also consider Southern, Keysborough, Yarra Yarra, Rossdale, Kingswood, Commonwealth, or Spring Valley. I have played Woodlands twice last time I was wrapt to shoot 38 for the front nine.
