Why do I need to buy safety glass?
Australian Standards AS 1288 2006 and AS 1288-94 states that safety glass must be installed in locations where accidents are known to occur at greater frequency. Outdoor and indoor glass, doors with glass side panels, bathroom shower screens and low-level glass must be fitted with safety glass due to risk of human impact. In some areas, safety glass is installed because it breaks safely on impact.
Is it possible to patch glass?
Glass is shaped and formed in a liquid state. Usually, damaged glass cannot be patched and glass replacement is the only option. However, if the damage is only a tiny stone chipped surface, there is a procedure to repair it.
Can glass scratches be removed?
Glass making starts by melting sand, soda ash and lime together in large furnaces at high temperatures. When the liquid cools, it becomes glass. If the surface becomes scratched, it may be possible to repair it. Shallow surface scratches are easy to repair. However, fixing deep scratches that have penetrated the glass surface is impossible. The glass would be returned to its liquid state which is not an option. New replacement glass must be fitted.
How can I measure my window without a ruler or tape measure?
If a ruler or tape measure is not handy, use a Yellow Pages directory to approximate the size of a door or window glass panel.
Can you replace a glass panel after the installation of an air conditioner?
The installation of a window air conditioner requires removal of the glass panel. It is possible to custom cut a glass sheet to neatly fit around it. Care must be taken not to damage the new glass panel when you re-install the air conditioner.
Why does toughened glass sometimes explode?
The process of manufacturing toughened or tempered glass creates internal stresses to give the glass strength. Small internal defects resulting from impurities and external defects caused by microscopic scratches, chipping, expansion due to sunlight and other factors can make toughened glass fracture at any time.
Can you cut toughened glass?
Toughened glass, sometimes referred to as tempered glass, is heated in a furnace and cooled quickly to harden it. Once the process is complete, the glass cannot be cut even using a diamond blade. However, it is possible to polish the glass surface to a depth of 3mm in the absence of cut outs.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!
They had a simple job to remove and reinstall a glass shower pane. They did SO MUCH DAMAGE to our property and made SO MANY MISTAKES, including:
- significant SCRATCHES on both sides of the glass panel
- DAMAGED our bathroom blind by splashing silicon over it
- LOST a screw and blamed us (we later found it on the carpet)
- reinstalled the panel OUT OF ALIGNMENT by at least 5cm
- didn’t remove the OLD SILICON, and topped it with new silicon
- left packing material protruding from under the panel
- left gaps in the silicon so that water LEAKS from the shower underneath the panel
- left about 10cm of the glass panel UNATTACHED TO THE FLOOR
- did a very unsightly job of the silicon, with gaps and lumps, which is going to cause dirt and mould to collect
When we asked them to come look at the issues and rectify them, they CANCELLED THREE BOOKINGS with only 15 minutes notice and were AGGRESSIVE on the phone, to the extent that I got my husband to stay home for the bookings.
Now the owner is REFUSING to even have someone come to look at the issues, saying that he is happy to trust in the tradesman. This is the same tradesman who LOOKED THROUGH BEDROOMS in my house while I was home alone, used my toilet and left a mess and was AGGRESSIVE with me more than once. The owner is also REFUSING to give us a refund so that we can have someone else fix the problems.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are absolutely awful to deal with. It has been a waste of money and time and emotion. They took my money, did an AWFUL job and caused damage to my property.

Most horrendous experience I have had to date with a tradesmen. After the Initial installation of my shower screens, my bathroom was left with dangerous metal shavings and black dirt in addition the actual New shower screen was covered in dents and scratches. Today, months and months on from this terrible experience I am dealing with rusted/rotted screws which are eroding day by day, as stainless steel screws were not used. When I contacted Markus the owner of ASAP, I was belittled, not given a chance to explain my situation and then hung up on. Very, very rude. Who treats customers like this. My recommendation is to NOT use this company. Find another one that treats their customers with respect.
