The Laptop Shop

Don't waist your money and take your computer to the Laptop Shop in Summer Street Orange. I took my laptop in for repair several months ago, the guy took my laptop apart and could not fix it, he also ruined the female power adapter charger on my laptop, when I dropped in to pick up my laptop, he said there is a $ 60 Aud charge for taking my laptop apart. When I asked if he could put it back together for me he said it will cost me more in labour. I can take my laptop apart in 5 minutes. I have spoken to a reputable computer repairer in Orange who has told me this guy has been taken to consumer affairs many times before. Don't waste your time and hard earned money taking your computer here, take it to Sydney to a reputable repairer for your brand of computer or mail it to them if it is a laptop. You will get your computer repaired by someone who knows something about computers.

Unfortunately we are unable to find a positive in the experience of dealing with this business. From the drop off of our Mac laptop, to when we will be able to finally pick it up on Monday there has been just under a 7 week timeframe with very little outgoing communication explaining why this is the case.

Whilst the owner quotes 17 years working in the field, unfortunately this works against him in both the level of skill he applies (my last visit to the store saw me walk in just as he was shaking my laptop upside down to remove some pieces of broken screen) and the way in which he approaches service. Horrifying to say the least.

I must admit, during this visit I was not as polite as I should have been. Frustration with the process has gotten the better of us in the end. This however does not excuse the terrible communication, lack of understanding of how to repair an Apple device, and the abject refusal of the owner to communicate an effective timeline in order to assist me in managing my expectations of return of the device.

You will be much better served sending the device away, or venturing to one of the bigger centres such as Bathurst to a reputable technician. Technology is not an area where 17 years experience is necessarily a good thing.
