Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas

Sheraton Mirage has been a famous name in Port Douglas for a long time. Many years on and it still looks stunning from the outside. Massive grounds carefully maintained, a luxurious feel, and a magnificent pool that wraps its way around the resort. Unfortunately though when you enter you start to see a different side.
We came here one evening with the intention of eating dinner her, however walking in the first impression we got was a resort thats starting to look very tired indeed. It was quiet with hardly any people, and with very little atmosphere. Going outside we then found the pool area deserted and completely in the dark. It wasnt even late.
In the end we decided to give this place a miss. We came away feeling sad more than anything. Here is an icon of Port Douglas clearly struggling. It sums up the whole town pretty well right now with the tough times theyre facing up there.
