Rosebud Private is a long, challenging private course on land that is flat. Rosebud has 27 holes so there is a mixture of nines that can be played. The fairways and greens are always in good condition and it is relatively cheap to stay and eat at the course. I guess Rosebud just suffers a bit because the competition is so strong - I much prefer The Dunes, Sorrento, Moonah Links and Eagle Ridge to Rosebud because they are better designs with more sloping greens and not as exposed and one-dimensional as Rosebud. After a lot of rain it stays dry because it is well drained and exposed to the warm Peninsula winds so stays dry. One negative is that it is a bit exposed and hasnt really improved over the years to keep up with the tough competition. The bunker sand is sort of red and heavy on some holes - not the true bunkers you get on courses like The Dunes and Moonah Links. If you are considering this course you might also consider Devilbend, The Dunes, St Andrews Beach or Mornington.
