We love our local Bunnings!

We shop at Bunnings nearly every weekend and 99% of our experiences with the service staff have been great. There was one bad experience with one individual, but that was it and we've shopped there over a hundred times.

Never again

Absolutely no customer service at all . The staff are rude and wouldn't know the first thing about what they are selling.

Today I went to Bunnings at Rothwell, and bought two Ozito mowers and spare lithium batteries for the mowers. Having checked with a staff member if the batteries were correct, I went to the self check out aisle. I was assisted and informed by a lovely staff member that it was best to photocopy the receipt and take a photo as it would fade over time. So I did just that. When I dropped off one of the mowers at my parent's house I realized that the battery was the incorrect voltage, which was no issue. So I went to exchange this for a more expensive one about an hour later.
Upon walking only a few steps in the door (I had not even gone past the trolleys), I realised I had dropped the receipt somewhere between my car and the entrance, some 5 metres. I turned around to fetch my receipt immediately and was stopped by the woman at the front asking me for my receipt for the items in my hand. I explained my situation and remembered I had a photo on my phone of the receipt, which I gladly showed her. She told me that it was ok and just to head straight to the refund area, so I did just that. I was told to fetch what I needed, unfortunately what I needed was not in stock. I came back to the counter and told the woman there that I will just have to go to another Bunnings or order it online. From here on in I was completely disgusted!
I was told that since I walked in and out in a rush (yes all 5 steps) that the security cameras would have to be checked as I did not have a receipt. Even though I had showed my photo to her as well. Once again I said it's in the carpark, I can fetch it. But no this was not good enough. I was made to wait while your staff accused me of stealing and refused to refund my money, only offering me store credit and demanding identification from me.
Well guess what, I took your store credit, walked the few steps outside, picked up my receipt off the ground and came back in!
How disgusting of you to accuse me of theft!
