I will start by saying that I cannot fault the Child and Family Therapist that we had- Jess was beautiful and very thorough in her job. Our issue is solely with the intake of our business and the required documents/assessments we needed for NDIA that was organised my the owner Mel. Our referral was completed by our OT as we required a restrictive practice assessment and positive behaviour support plan completed asap- which was told to the owner. The owner of wavelengths advised that they could complete this in a quick timeframe for us, however would need to be completed by a provisional psychologist as the wait for another experienced psychologist would be too long, however the provisional psychologist would still be overseen by someone with experience. We have had 3 PBSP copies completed (over the span of approx 12 months) to align with the information NDIA needed for a specific item- along with an ABAS3 and a program plan. I have now been told by our LAC that this company is not registered with NDIA to complete the PBSP or restrictive practice assessment- and the child and family therapist is not the appropriate person to complete this either, even if it is co-signed with a clinical psychologist. The Company/owner has been deceitful and knew this, however has still billed us for documents/assessments that we now cannot use. Funding for these sessions, assessments and reports were sent straight to our plan manager; so funds were being taken out of the correct line items even though the company was not registered under ‘Improved Relationships’. We now have to wait a further 12 weeks to start the process all over again for the PBSP and restrictive practice assessment.

As a carer of a highly disabled little boy, I feel absolutely cheated and lied to by a company that should have our best interests at heart. With all that we have to remember and do on a daily basis, we should not have to then be the ones to ask crucial questions like ‘are you registered with NDIA to complete this?’, ‘do you have the right qualifications to complete this?’. We should be able to trust that the services we are being provided are the correct ones and the most suitable for our vulnerable people. They should have been upfront with us the moment they knew they would not be suitable to provide a certain service to us instead of being fraudulent and taking my sons NDIS money. Be very careful dealing with this company. Also look out for how much they try to charge for ASD assessments and always get quotes from multiple companies. We have been on a ‘wait list’ since March with no word on when we can get the assessment done and was quoted 2.5k-3.2k. After all the above has come to light, I put in referrals to other companies, and was able to secure an assessment for 1.9k and for the end of the month.

Be very careful. Especially with children. Ive had an extemely stressfull experience. Was lied to. And my kids did not enjoy it
