DO NOT USE PURSUE WEALTH!

I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with Josh and Brad at Pursue Wealth, and I strongly advise anyone looking for financial advice to stay far away from this company.

Our initial meeting with them was relatively pleasant — it was all smiles, and they offered a "free" consultation to get to know us and see if we’d be a good fit. From there, they promised us they could provide a comprehensive financial plan. It sounded good at first, and we decided to move forward with their services.

However, when they presented the "plan," they walked us through the details step by step. But what stood out right away was the purposeful placement of the ongoing fees to the very end of the presentation and added as though it was just a ‘that’s our presentation’ type page. They conveniently left out the fact that we would be paying hefty ongoing costs — as much as the amount they would earn from our investments! When we brought this up, they tried to downplay it, offering the vague option of reaching out occasionally for help if we had questions. This felt more like a sales pitch than genuine advice and right we were…

The hidden fees and conflicts of interest were impossible to ignore.

What they didn’t mention upfront was their strong focus on selling us life insurance and superannuation plans, which they clearly had a financial stake in (the document actually states this if you read through carefully). Both proposals were absurd and not in line with our goals. To make matters worse, when we reviewed the figures, the superannuation they recommended would actually lose money over the next few years compared to our current plan — another red flag!

When we told them we were willing to proceed with the financial plan but not the life insurance or superannuation options, their attitude shifted dramatically. It became evident that they were pushing these options on us simply to earn a commission, which was disappointing given that they had originally claimed no conflicts of interest. In fact, at the beginning, we specifically asked about affiliations and were told there were none. But when we declined their proposals, the tone of the conversation changed, and Brad even went as far as to tell us an uncomfortable personal story about his grandmother's death to try to push the life insurance on us. This was manipulative and unprofessional.

Poor customer service and a lack of transparency.

After we decided to proceed without the life insurance and superannuation options, we had a few follow-up questions. However, when we reached out by email a few weeks later following the signing of their document, Josh replied that since we didn’t opt for the ongoing services, they could no longer assist us. This response was completely dismissive and demonstrated how little they actually care about their clients once they’re not making any further money off of them.

To top it all off, when we chose to close our investment account with Pursue Wealth (their ‘high-risk’ approach projected a return of only 7%) it was an absolute nightmare. The process took hours of phone calls to Macquarie (PW had stepped away), followed by weeks of waiting for the funds to be liquidated. PW had told us it would be quick and easy, but that was far from the truth.

Finally, we found out that Brad had left Pursue Wealth because he didn’t agree with the way Josh was handling things.

In conclusion: DO NOT TRUST PURSUE WEALTH.

The entire experience felt like a sales operation rather than a professional advisory service. The lack of transparency, hidden fees, and pressure to buy products that weren't in our best interest was shocking. There are much better financial advisors out there who genuinely prioritize your goals and financial well-being. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.

I would highly recommend using Pursue Wealth to get ahead in your finances. Sam was very knowledgable and was able to find the best financial solutions for me. I am very happy with the service and will be continuing to use Pursue Wealth well into the future.

Sam seems to have a sixth sense regarding what people need and want. From my first appointment with her she fully understood my concerns about my future and I left feeling a lot more secure and confident about my retirement years. Do not hesitate to give Sam a call for any financial concerns you may have.
