Not good

am writing to provide some feedback regarding one of your staff members, Mat. Unfortunately, my recent experiences with him have not been positive.

Each time I have interacted with Mat, his customer service has been noticeably poor. He does not appear friendly, helpful, or engaged, and it feels like he is not interested in assisting customers at all. This creates a negative experience and reflects poorly on the store.

I believe customer service is an important part of shopping at Woolworths, and I hope this feedback can be addressed so that future interactions are more professional and supportive.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for looking into the matter.

Very unprofessional

I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experiences at Woolworths Swansea have been consistently disappointing to the point where it needs to be said. The overall customer service in this store has steadily declined, and it’s become clear that something is seriously lacking in staff training, attitude, and basic professionalism.

Every time I walk into this store, it feels like the staff are completely disengaged from their roles. Instead of creating a welcoming environment, many of the team members look irritated, uninterested, or simply too busy talking amongst themselves to acknowledge customers. A simple “hello,” “I’ll be with you shortly,” or even eye contact often seems like too much effort. For a major supermarket chain, this is the kind of service you absolutely don’t expect—and definitely shouldn’t have to put up with.

Trying to ask for help in this store feels like you’re inconveniencing the staff. Approaching someone for assistance often results in a blunt response, a dismissive tone, or being pointed in a vague direction rather than being properly helped. It’s incredibly frustrating when staff act as if customers are interrupting their day. Customer service is literally the job.

The checkout experience isn’t much better. Some staff barely speak, don’t smile, and rush through scanning as if they just want to get the interaction over with. If something doesn’t scan or there’s a price issue, the attitude becomes even worse. Instead of resolving the situation politely, the atmosphere turns tense and uncomfortable—as if the customer is causing a problem just by wanting the correct price.

Even the store environment feels disorganised at times. Stock is left sitting in aisles with trolleys blocking walkways, and it often feels like there’s no urgency to clear things or maintain a clean, customer-friendly space. When you add inattentive or unhelpful staff to that, it creates an overall impression that management simply isn’t paying attention or enforcing any standards.

What makes it more frustrating is that Woolworths as a company is capable of excellent customer service—many other stores do it well. But Swansea seems to be falling behind in a big way, and no one appears to be addressing the issues. Customers deserve to feel respected, acknowledged, and assisted when they shop, not ignored or treated like they’re a burden.

Woolworths Swansea desperately needs stronger leadership, better training, and a shift in workplace culture. Until things improve, shopping at this store feels like more of a hassle than it’s worth. I genuinely hope management steps up, listens to customer feedback, and implements the changes needed to bring this store back up to basic standards.
