I had a really bad experience with the practitioner nurse at this centre. I went there to get my 18 month old daughter vaccinated.
My daughter was vaccinated overseas before and I had the complete record from the hospital with the dates and details of the vaccines. The nurse simply didn't want to look at the record and said she can't immunize my daughter because her record in he Immunization register is not up to date. We tried hard to explain it is not up to date becasue she was immunized overseas and we have the record with us. She didn't want to listen.
Today I contacted the Medicare office and even they advised that the nurse can send us the record of the vaccinations done overseas, and they receive hundreds of such requests. This is very normal.
This is what is written on the Human Services website: http://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/services/medicare/australian-childhood-immunisation-register
"To help make sure your child's records are up-to-date, the Immunisation Register can record vaccinations your child received while overseas. Your Australian doctor or immunisation provider just needs to send the overseas vaccination details to the Immunisation Register."
My daughter is already more than a week overdue. I work full time so can only go on a saturday, this will add another week. It is a pain!
