Worst Experience: Faulty Product, No Refund, No Resolution

I had a terrible experience with DeviceDeal and would strongly advise others to think twice before purchasing from them.



I purchased an Arlo Ultra Smart Hub 4K Base Station (model VMB5000) from DeviceDeal in September 2025. From the very beginning, the product did not work – it would not pair with the Arlo app despite me following all setup instructions and troubleshooting steps (resetting, updating firmware, changing cables, etc.).



I returned the unit in good faith, expecting a warranty remedy as required under Australian Consumer Law. Instead, DeviceDeal refused to provide a refund. They claimed the product “worked in their testing” and gave me only two unsatisfactory options:



Have the same faulty unit shipped back to me at my own cost, or



Accept a partial refund under their “change of mind” policy (less shipping), despite the fact that the product was never functional in my environment.



To make matters worse, the product was originally sent to me without its original packaging, raising serious concerns about whether it was sold as new or was a previously returned/refurbished unit.



In the end, DeviceDeal kept both my money and the product I returned, leaving me with nothing. This conduct is unacceptable and, in my opinion, in clear breach of Australian consumer rights.



I will never purchase from DeviceDeal again, and I strongly recommend that anyone looking for reliable service and genuine consumer protection shop elsewhere.
