We had a disappointing experience with Egritech/Fleurieu Pod Houses. From the start, communication was poor. We often had to follow up, as they rarely reached out to us, and when they did, they frequently shifted blame to other companies for any mix-ups. Throughout the process, there were multiple staff changes, and important details were overlooked, such as the installation of our air-conditioner, which led to further delays. Additionally, our tiny house was missing key features outlined in our contract, including the specific hinged push-out window we had requested.
Once delivered, we found that the craftsmanship did not meet our expectations. The paint job was rough, with visible hairs and uneven blobs of paint, and the cornices were misaligned. Some fittings also felt cheap and not built to last.
One of the most significant challenges was the council approval process. When we required a building certification, the company pointed us to a clause in their contract stating they are not licensed builders. As a result, we had to pay approximately $4,000 for independent certification—an unexpected cost that future customers should be aware of.
A major frustration has been the faulty water pump. Despite raising this issue immediately and following up with multiple emails since November, the company has refused to take responsibility. They initially blamed other suppliers, and now they simply ignore our emails. We’ve had no choice but to escalate the matter to Consumer Affairs. The complete lack of accountability and response has been incredibly disappointing and has taken a significant toll on our time and resources.
