My family and I booked with Peter to transfer to Trinity Beach from Cairns airport.
We were travelling with 3 small children so had requested car seats to suit.
Upon arrival at Cairns airport we allowed other passengers in the plane to disembark while we organised kids and bags at our seats.
We then walked directly to the baggage hall only stopping to allow 2 children to use the toilet and to change a baby’s nappy.
Whilst my wife changed my son’s nappy I received a curt phone call from lady at Palm Cove Limousines asking where we were. I advised we would be at the baggage claim shortly and the lady hung up.
At the baggage claim we were met by Peter who was rude and irate by our apparent tardiness. It is true we were the last passengers to collect our bags. It is also true we were the only family on a plane with adult passengers mostly carrying hand luggage.
Peter declared he could not bring us to our destination as he had another transfer to make. I’m not sure what his solution would have been had the plane been 10 minutes late.
It should not have been a surprise to Peter that we were travelling with young children given the car had been fitted with an infant seat and a booster seat.
I proceeded to collect our luggage from the carousel. My 5 year old son and 8 year old daughter assisted while my wife held our baby. Peter offered no assistance with baggage before inviting us to wait in the sun for another car in 30 minutes.
In 30 minutes, Alan arrived to bring us to our accommodation. Alan was professional and polite and we had a pleasurable drive to our apartment.
Peter had advised me that payment could be accepted in the car on the day by credit card.
Strangely, there was no eftpos machine for payment and instead I my credit card details were recorded on a blank sheet of paper (Alarm bells).
A couple of days later I noticed I had been charged twice the journey quote. Had I been charged for the missed transfer or had I been charged in advance for a return transfer? (A transfer that I had no intention of taking after our treatment thus far)
I called Palm Cove Limousines for some answers and once again spoke to the same rude lady as before. She insisted I authorised the charge (how?) and entertained no possibility of a refund.
After a number of unbelievably pointed expletives from this lady she once again hung up on me. I sought a refund in writing and expressed that if they failed to do so that I would seek a credit card chargeback.
The refund was granted and paid by Peter.
These guys should not be in the service industry dealing with members of this public. This was the worst possible welcome to Cairns and a really poor start to our family holiday (which was otherwise fantastic.)
I am not sure if they have forgotten what it’s like to have tourists in Cairns but if you are a family or a human being do not use this company.
