Unimpressed

Unprofessional

I found Dr. Nisha to be very unprofessional as a GP. I have only seen her twice. The first time a few years ago she was pleasant enough. This time around I found her appalling. I went to her with lethargy, aches and pains and a recent finding of lesions on a mammogram/ultrasound. She basically said from the start that she would not help me with anything except to look at my breasts, because she was not my regular doctor, and did not address any of my concerns. I have never experienced a GP refusing treatment/passing you onto another GP because they can't be bothered to deal with you. She quickly went through blood test results, and didn't explain what some abnormal results meant, or suggest to investigate further. Nor did she bother to acknowledge or investigate the issues I presented with (severe lethargy and body aches which were debilitating and causing time spent off work). She insisted this was not her issue, and was something my regular GP should look at, even though I told her he was on leave and not available to see for another 6 weeks. And absolutely everyone else I spoke to about this insisted I needed to be seen much sooner. I couldn't get out of the clinic fast enough and vowed never to return. Then a few days later, she called me on the phone with the results of my breast biopsy. She explained I had the option of seeing a "breast doctor" as she put it or "waiting and monitoring". As I had no idea what any of these results meant or what "wait and see/monitor" meant, I took her suggestion to see the breast doctor. She then commented "I know you're an anxious girl" - suggesting that it is because I'm "anxious" that it is best I see a breast doctor. At this point, I was disgusted. This doctor does not know me from a bar of soap, she doesn't know my mental health, and if she was interested, I can clarify that I don't suffer from anxiety. The fact that she assumed that I must be an anxious person, and that is why she was organising a referral I found to be so patronising and so utterly unprofessional. As a mental health professional, I would never make assumptions about people's mental health without doing some kind of mental health assessment. Perhaps she thought that because I was having to do her job for her during the appointment, and following up on my own blood test results and symptoms because she didn't bother discussing anything with me that she mistook her incompetence for my anxiety.
