Usually reliable but this time has taken off with my upfront payment

Very polite and well mannered (didn’t complete an agreed task which left me short of my paid in full payment) and (offered to refund me) but refuses to refund me OR return messages.

I first contacted owner (after many months no call outs) on the 25/th May 2023. Requesting a number of tasks including a rather unusual task * removing malware from my iphone (he did fix for me) but strangely returned my Pc without completing what he had agreed to complete (price was lower than expected)

The owner was happy to help (I did have to wait 4 days)

So owner attends on 29th May and (without question) required my Pc desktop to take back to his home

Two days after that he sent me messages requesting my password to open my Pc

The next day (much to my surprise) all done $120.00 total.

I expected $200.00 at least (we did agree I would refund any cost to activate IMAZING paid software which is usually around $100

Didn’t prewarn me he had not completed all that was agreed

Arrives at my home to drop Pc off and (then) informs me of the inability to complete the one outstanding task (grab copy of full email server inbox (convert to PDF)

I was good about it but insisted the importance of his help with this. He did agree he would help (again) and as inceoi offered another $100.00

Didn’t return communication so I paid him upfront to highlight the importance

He didn’t respond to that for many days so I sent him a kind message maybe ndful of his busy schedule

Mind you I provided an inflated payment (1 of 2) of $20.00 (on top of his requested $120) a total of $140.00 as a type thank you and ‘good gesture tip’ for his willingness to help, But this was paid to him (as he insisted) prior to disclosing he failed to complete all the tasks he agreed to complete for me (returning my Pc)

So after paying him on 1st & 2nd June ($140 & $100) and no response I messaged him on 5/6/23 kindly highlighting the importance

He returns messages (after an hour or so) very upset and grumpy suggesting if I don’t like it go else where and indicated I send bsb details to refund me

Clearly it was more of an inconvenience to accept a rude response and so I persisted in negotiating he help me

But today 12th June owner still refuses to refund me for a task he had no time OR interest in completing

To this day has ran off with my money & refuses to return messages

Experience tells me * Pay at completion Don’t risk paying prior (&) persist with requesting he supply invoicing.

Be most aware (check with owner) of any risking programs he may install as a type fix or repair before he begins (ask for a condition report agreement to be signed prior to allowing him to take your computer home for repair (should your computer gets accidentally damaged) it saves both parties the pain (trust me)

Look although I’ve used the service for three years without much issues (maybe he had a vey bad day OR his schedule was not manageable recently) as he did initially confirm he could complete a basic task but it has cost me (additionally) to find (pay twice) another more reliable computer repair guy ($150.00) so you can see the frustration and costs has incurred for me (don’t not pay beforehand because it’s likely I won’t get mine back)

My experience has been dodgy

NOTICE the website he has is a NON SECURE website and After indicating I’d post my experiences on truelocal website (it seems) the business no longer is listed (seemingly removed as I was typing my feedback)

Arranged a time to fix my computer (I required simple tasks) my yahoo inbox is full needed a pc guy to help 1. put all emails to PDF to avoid losing data 2. Remove a virus from my non Microsoft iphone 3. Update my computer (as it never gets internet access) 4. Reinstall a paid program IMAZING -arrangement was: I’d pay him back on top of his $100.00 call out fix fee

Owner agreed to help in text messages clearly (& I used him before and he appears genuine and very well mannered.) But I have noticed (prior to this latest visit) he seems to install illegal computer programs as part of the repair * without the client requesting this.

Which for people like myself is not what I’d asked for and placed a cloud of risks I do not need either

He did this firstly (a fair while ago) with microsoft OUTLOOK (a paid program generally) to help fix my email problem (but as it appears) the version he has installed (without even telling me back then) seems to be a pirate type version (when I did realise this I began to ask questions about an errored update (there’s also a pop up Microsoft warning) and he seemed to get most frustrated threatening i should look elsewhere if I were not happy with his service

I live in Adelaide and it’s rather cheap compared to other options but I didn’t ask he do this but it had helped me (I admit this) but I did not ask (& I don’t need) the risks this poses for me OR anyone caught breaking the rules (which pop up making it very clear)

Again without a lot of budget options (& is not great with any computer) he has been rather reliable and attends to home visits and pricing/knowledge is impressive

Anyway, recently I had requested he pay for a replacement paid 3rd party program for transferring iphone data (it’s called IMAZING) and the software (is not a lifetime subscription generally) but he returned to tell me he had installed a special copy requiring no payment (I did repeatedly offer to reimburse his Paypal payment as part of the arrangement) He advises me “BUT IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU WHERE YOU GOT THIS PROGRAM FROM YOU DID NOT GET THE COPY FROM ME* which sounds all good and well if I like to take such risks, but (again) he did this without me asking and did not once bother to advise me when I sent detailed Paypal assurances I’d pay him back as part of the job (on the lead up to doing the job) OR prior to returning my computer arranging a drop off time

He kept saying assuring me the tasks were done and to pay so I paid and I actually paid him a little more to show my appreciation to a fair list of tasks he made me assume were all complete but (once paid and he then returned my computer) the computer (HP curved screen) was ‘wobbly’ (possibly accidental damage) but he acted like it was usual (I said nothing because I rely on his help I’m not great with computers) but then he advises me he did not complete the tasks we had agreed to and he warns me about his dodgy installation of a popular paid program (warning me not to get caught with it)

So (I initially said nothing although I clearly intended to repay the expected Paypal reimbursement fee because I then began to negotiate a time he could finish the main task (converting all my emails to PDF)

He agreed he’d help yet again but did not return communication the following day

So (as part of my incentive to get him to help me before losing emails to a full inbox) I PAID HIM IN ADVANCE $100.00 and advised him via text messages

A day weekend and nearly an entire week day past and he had not returned any indication of further arrangement OR fact he had taken my upfront payment

So I sent him a text message (he later replies) with an idea ‘if your not happy with my service look elsewhere

So I
