What about my children who only have baby teeth?

Baby teeth are weaker and softer than adult teeth. They are more likely to decay, and should decay start, the infection process is rapid and can become an emergency to treat as children have a weaker immune system.

What is a dental implant?

Dental implants are designed to fill in a gap left by a missing or extracted tooth. It is important to fill in gaps because it can cause your teeth to move which can lead to crookedness and more gaps. Dental implants also have restorative benefits as they provide stability and function to an otherwise compromised smile. If you leave a gap in your mouth this can alter the shape of your face and lead to sacrificed muscular support and in turn premature aging.

How much will my treatment cost and what is involved?

Everyone has different concerns with their teeth. The best way to find out what costs you may be looking at is to have a consultation to receive various options and quotes on treatment before you start any work. This also enables you to know what will be performed at each appointment, and, how long each appointment would take.

How much will I get back from private health insurance?

If you have private health you should consider obtaining a quote prior to starting treatment, and, with that quote, calling up the private health insurer or visiting their local branch to find out how much coverage you would receive. Every health cover is different, and everyone's level of cover is different, and more importantly, the fine print can be very fine sometimes.

Can I get anything else back?

If your total out of pocket medical expenses exceed $2000 you may be entitled to a 20% rebate in your tax return. Please check with the tax office or your accountant for special conditions.

What is Invisaglign?

Invisalign is a treatment that can straighten your teeth discreetly. This treatment includes a series of clear plastic aligners that progressively move your teeth into alignment. Invisalign is designed for patients who want to achieve a straight smile without having to undergo traditional orthodontics

Is it safe to go overseas to have it done?

It is very hard to try to gauge how good a dentist unless you have had friends who have been to them before. Before you have any work done, please ensure the person treating you completely understands your wishes and concerns as the result of your treatment may be to your expectations. Most importantly, teeth should last a lifetime and you should consider that the work you undertake overseas will require maintenance. We have had many patients disappointed with treatment undertaken overseas.

How much can I get back from medicare?

Medicare has two means to reduce your dental bills. 1. Full mouth Xray: This is also known as an OPG. This is a full mouth image and must be taken at an Xray clinic to get any coverage from medicare. 2. Teen Dental Vouchers: Some families will receive a voucher from medicare for their teenagers to have their teeth seen by a dentist. This is limited to having their teeth examined, cleaned, and Xrays of the teeth. This voucher will NOT cover extractions, fillings or other complex treatment.

Will my treatment be painful?

There are various ways to make your time at the dentist as comfortable as possible. Please let us know if your history at the dentist involved anything uncomfortable so we can determine the best way to make your visit comfortable. Dental treatment should never be painful.

When should I bring my child to the dentist?

We recommend bring your child to the dentist when their teeth erupt. This will just be a quick checkup and will be very cost effective for you.

When should my children start seeing the dentist?

When your child has their first tooth, you should start considering seeing the dentist together. This has several advantages as your dentist can advise you on methods to clean your child's teeth and enable your child to slowly become familiar with the dental clinic environment. You do not want their first experience at the dentist to be when they are unbearable pain.

How bad are my teeth and will they last my lifetime?

With good preventative care there is no reason why your teeth should not last a lifetime. We are happy to show you what changes to your daily routine can be done to ensure your teeth will last your lifetime.
