Nelson Asphalting and Excavations

We contracted Nelson Asphalting to do some asphalting at one of our sites. We would never use them again as they did not adhere to any of the design and specifications laid out in written communications or the plans, didn’t rectify any of their defects, stated that there weren’t any issues when it was obvious there was, and had the worst communication and workmanship we have ever encountered.



The pathway edges were not rounded, the surfaces were rough and not poured correctly or to any industry standards, there were cold joins in the middle of a basketball court when they could have easily been done in a pathway, the asphalting wasn’t even close to level or even, they used a plate compactor instead of a roller for 620m2 of asphalt, and the surface was wavy all which our client hated.



We attempted to work with Nelson Asphalting to rectify these issues giving them the benefit of the doubt and believed that it was a once off. However, we were proven wrong when not only did they not rectify the issues, when they came to the site to inspect the issues they didn’t even acknowledge their terrible job stating that the plans were not possible. Then after we showed how simple the plans were the manager Peter admitted that they didn’t even look at the plans.



With their poor workmanship, poor communication, and generally poor everything else it’s a wonder that Nelson Asphalting is even in business. If we were a potential customer we would go anywhere else than engage them. They will take your money and then deliver the worst job you will ever see and then refuse to fix their defects or even admit there are any even when they are so blatantly obvious.
