Finding a reputable dog kennel
Making sure you’re happy with the kennel where you are leaving your beloved pet is important, for you and for your pet. Make sure you do your homework before booking your pet into a boarding kennel or other dog accommodation.

Research local kennels
Most kennels have websites and these websites usually include not only a list of services but also photos. Make sure that the boarding kennel will offer the services that you and your dog want. This will include such things as individual sleeping spaces, daily exercise, adequate human contact, stimulation and clean facilities.
Many kennels also offer services such as grooming, play time with other dogs and swimming. Any reputable kennel will insist on evidence that your dog is fully immunised and vaccinated and many will be a member of an Industry Association such as the Pet Industry Association of Australia (PIAA). Ask for references, ask other dog owners or even your vet for a referral to a trusted business.

Visit kennels near you
Reputable dog kennels will welcome your visit to the facility. They will have nothing to hide and will encourage you to look around and see what they have to offer. Remember to always check first though as some ask that you come only at certain times, this is to ensure minimal disruption to their current guests and staff.
